## Methods

- [Simple Gematria](https://www.gemater.com/methods/simple): Simple gematria — also called English Ordinal — assigns each letter its position in the alphabet (A = 1, B = 2, … Z = 26) and sums those values for a word.
- [English Gematria](https://www.gemater.com/methods/english): English gematria — sometimes called English Sumerian — takes each letter's ordinal position and multiplies it by 6 (A = 6, B = 12, … Z = 156). The multiplier brings English totals into the same numeric range as classical Hebrew Standard values.
- [Jewish Gematria](https://www.gemater.com/methods/jewish): Jewish gematria maps the classical Hebrew Standard values (Aleph = 1, Bet = 2, Yud = 10, Qof = 100, Tav = 400) onto the Latin alphabet so you can type in English and get a Hebrew-flavoured total.
- [Atbash](https://www.gemater.com/methods/atbash): Atbash is a substitution cipher: each letter is replaced by its mirror in the alphabet (A↔Z, B↔Y, C↔X, …). The substituted letters are then evaluated — in our implementation, under the Jewish (Hebrew Standard) values.
- [Reduction](https://www.gemater.com/methods/reduction): Reduction (also called Full Reduction or Pythagorean) reduces each letter's ordinal value to a single digit, then sums those digits. A=1, J=1, S=1; B=2, K=2, T=2; etc.
- [Reverse Ordinal](https://www.gemater.com/methods/reverse): Reverse Ordinal flips the alphabet: A = 26, B = 25, …, Z = 1. The letters keep their positions; only their numeric assignments are mirrored.
